Sharingan

The sharingan is an eye in the bloodline of the Uchia clan. The name translates to ‘copy wheel eye’ which kind of plays down how powerful this jutsu actually is.

It design takes on the form of a red background eye and up to 3 black tomo (comma like) around the pupil.

It has three stages each one with more tomo’s; stage 1, 1 tomo, stage 2, 2 tomo and so on. Each stage has more capabilities and flexibilities than the last.

They are usually unlocked under severe emotions but it is not clear which one, so it’s safe to assume any emotion strong enough can activate a sharingan. After the emotion reaction the brain will emit a special type of chakra that transforms the eye.For example when Obito awakened his sharingan because he wanted to save Rin and kakashi really badly;

and Saskue, who got his eye from the emotions of the night where his entire clan died.

It is possible for non-uchia clan members to get a sharingan but that only happens in an eye transplant of an already awakened eye

Feats of the eye include,

• Enhanced perception (read lips, decode actions, ect)

• Ability to copy any jutsu as long as the user is capable of doing it. (so kekki-genkai and elemental jutsu are ignored)

• See chakra in color and the flow of it. (basically infrared only for humans)

• Can read enemy’s attack and movement before it happens (allows to react quicker)

• Powerful genjutsu ( can be powerful enough to control a tailed beast

• Extremely overpowered jutsu like Izanagi and Izanami at the cost of one eye

Izanagi: cast on the user to make illusion and reality unified, putting any harm caused by the enemy as an illusion allowing the user to cheat death.

Izanami: cast on the foe to put the enemy under a genjutsu loop of specific times which are specified by the caster, it can work even with only one time placed.

There is a lot more you can do with the sharingan namely Mangeko sharingan which allows even more overpowered jutsu but let’s stick with only Naruto.
